The Wigs-R-Us concept grew out of the diverse career of one of England's renowned hair & beauty specialists. A remarkable fusion of experience, knowledge and skills gained from an individual's personal journey, born of teenage dreams.

Jennie
Jennie's a born & bred Southport girl who trained through the apprenticeship system before opening her first salon.

In those early days, her involvement in wigs & hairpieces was through clients & links with the stage, entertainment & fashion worlds - after all, in those groovy times, wigs & hairpieces were very much a must-have fashion accessory.

Exciting Days. Promoting the business through shows, including 'Birds of Paradise' Revue Shows, and all at a time when there wasn't a Bunny Girl in Southport not coiffed by Jennie. The Southport club scene in those days was second only to London & celebrities would come from far & wide to appear at The Kingsway's cabarets - exciting, wild times!

What with fashion shoots, album cover shoots & wig parties, Jennie learnt more & more about alternative hair, styling, cutting, colouring & perming alongside the more conventional salon work.

A visit to Bath, an interest in history and a fascination with Hair Through The Ages researching the very beginnings of the hairdressing profession added another dimension with a love of historical & period costume. Theatre commissions soon followed, adding to an already hectic schedule.

Jennie's individual journey also included training, with students attending her private training centre from all over the World. Predictably, Jennie also became involved in Government funded training.

Jennie maintained her interest & love of working in a now specialised field, including treating hair loss. As a Biosthetician providing a personalised service for hair & scalp and as a wig consultant personalising wigs for clients.

These specialised skills continued to grow alongside the premier training services. A growing recognition of the need & value of specialist & caring wig provision added to the vision that was to become a reality.

The necessity for a change of direction in 1998 gave Jennie the perfect opportunity & motivation to activate her wish list and Wigs-r-Us came to be.
